Álex Montoya's short film awarded at Sundance

Snow came back to Park City today and I found shelter in the Prospector Square Theater, where I caught one of the screenings of Yo, también (Me, Too). The film was preceded by the short film How I Met Your Father, by director Álex Montoya, which was honoured yesterday with a Special Jury Award in the short film category.

HIMYF tells the story of a young couple's disastrous one-night stand and, following the film's reassuring title, it teaches us that not everything that begins with the wrong foot has necessarily to end the same way.

Humble in means and ambition, the 9 min film is as fresh as the sexuality it portrays and the naturalistic performances of Irene Anula and Iñaki Ardanaz avoid at all times the usual self-consciousness and embarrasment of similar themed works.

Congratulations to director Álex Montoya and his team.

A.
