Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 15:25 Yelle, Belle&Sebastian and Deerhunter kick off the spring concert season in Brussels
It's really hard to keep up with other cultural events in Brussels now that the strenuous BIFFF is full steam ahead, but I had three concerts bookmarked for the next four days and I intend not to miss any of them.
The weekend will get off to a dancing start tomorrow, Friday, April 8, at Botanique, where the guys from Yelle, led by the irresistible Julie Budet, will present Safari Disco Club, the excellent follow-up album to their 2007 debut album Pop Up.
After a musical break on Saturday (I'll be busy enough with the non-stop, night film orgy at the BIFFF), Scotish critics' darlings Belle & Sebastian's indie pop at Ancienne Belgique on Sunday evening and Deerhunter's bleak, elegant rock on Monday will complete an interesting series of shows that effectively mark the beginning of the peerless spring concert season in Brussels.
Here is Yelle's clip for Ce jeu from their debut album, which proves wrong those who think that the fluo kids movement is dead.
