Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 10:49 David Bowie performs Starman in Top of the Pops (1972)
One can't help but look back in envy at the 70s, a period in which mainstream and avant-garde coexisted without so much as noticing each other. Here's a clip of David Bowie performing Starman, in my opinion one of the best pop tunes ever written and the song that launched his Ziggy Stardust persona on, of all places, Top of the Pops in July 1972. Don't miss the boy from the audience in the colour stripe motif sweater and his tra la la dance to one of the most influential, innovative and experimantal artists of all time.
