Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 0:10 BAFTA nominations announced
The nominations for the 2011 British Academy Film Awards have just been announced. The King's Speech unsurprisingly leads the nominations with 14 nods.
Since the first round of voting had previously been announced, there are no major surprises in the announcement, except the one that I had anticipated in a previous entry in the blog (click here to see): Noomi Rapace has pulled off an upset nomination in the Best Actress category over performers favoured in other awards, most notably Jennifer Lawrence and Nicole Kidman. The film (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) also appears in the Best Adapted Screenplay category.
